Our History

Maple Leaf Events is located of 5 acres in Stevenson, Washington.
It has been in the Water's family for 3 generations.
Here is some of the history behind our land and home.

John & Marie (1958-1997)

The original home on the Maple Leaf Event's property was built in 1958 by John and Marie Waters.

Marie, who was originally from England, met John when he was fighting in WWII.
They married in 1945, and Marie immigrated to the United States.
In 1958, during the height of logging, John started working as a superviosor at Stevenson Co-ply Saw Mill. After a devestating fire burned down an existing home on the land, John and Marie bought the property
at 401 Maple Way to build their dream home.

This went on to become the current
location of Maple Leaf Events.

John and Marie raised 9 children in the home.
In 1997 they decided to downsize and relocated to Carson, WA.

Jim & Debbie (1997-2015)

In 1997, the home was sold to John & Marie's
son, Jim, and his wife Debbie.

In 2001, Jim and Debbie turned the property into the Water's Inn Bed and Breakfast. It quickly became a popular place for tourists to stay while visiting the Columbia Gorge. As their family grew, Jim and Debbie needed more room to house their many children and the B&B was closed down a few years later.

In 2008, Jim and Debbie decided that it was time to do something new with the family property. With the prospect of their son, Tom's, upcoming wedding they decided that the property would be a prime location for a wedding venue. With the help of friends and family and a real short timeline until the wedding, Jim and Debbie built the venue in a little over 40 days. They hosted their son's wedding in July of 2008. The following Summer Maple Leaf Events opened for business with just a reception hall and parking lot.

As the years went by landscaping was added around the reception hall. The luxury suites were completed just in time for the 2010 wedding season to enjoy them.

In 2014, after raising 10 children, and welcoming many grandchildren into the home, Jim and Debbie decided to retire and downsize.

Kevin & Jami (2015-Present)

Jami started the process of taking over the managment of the venue in March of 2014 and ran it while living off-site until June of 2015, when she and Kevin moved into the family home.

Maple Leaf Events is currently co-managed by Jami and Kevin, who bring alot of experience with event planning and management to their current roles. Kevin was raised on the property and they were married at Maple Leaf Events on

October 6, 2012.

They welcomed their first daughter, Lindsey, in September of 2018. She is the 4th generation of the Water's family to live at the home.
